The 10 People Who Bought the Most Manhattan Property in 2011

New, 1 comment

Most of us are perfectly satisfied to buy one Manhattan apartment, if any. But there are some buyers who keep coming back for more, and ProperyShark has combed through sales records to figure out just who those buyers were in 2011. Here now, a list of the 10 people (or couples) who purchased the largest number of Manhattan properties last year, ranked by number of transactions. Spoiler alert: the people who bought the highest number of apartments also paid the least for them. Nice deal!

10) Buyer(s): Leon and Sylvie Bressler
Number of purchases: 2
Amount spent: $10,475,000
The skinny: These buyers waited a few months between purchases on the Upper West Side, buying one property for $2.95 million in April and another for $7.525 million in August 2011. Summer windfall?

9) Buyer(s): Renee and Richard Barasch
Number of purchases: 2
Amount spent: $13,250,000
The skinny: These buyers picked up two apartments at 300 Central Park West, the legendary El Dorado. Not bad!

8) Buyer(s): Jacqueline Tracey Huff and Craig Huff
Number of purchases: 2
Amount spent: $13,806,394
The skinny: These buyers made their two purchases in the same building, 993 Fifth Avenue, on the same day. The price range was pretty wide, with one property going for $10.53 million and the other for $2.97 million.

7) Buyer(s): Pierre Lagrange
Number of purchases: 2
Amount spent: $15,863,320
The skinny: We already knew about this hedge funder's purchase of the penthouse at HL23, but he also bought a Manhattan place earlier in the year, paying $4.575 million at 450 West 17th Street. Dude sure likes his Chelsea.

6) Buyer(s): Michael and Arlene Cohrs
Number of purchases: 2
Amount spent: $17,250,000
The skinny: These buyers picked up two apartments in 92 Laight Street in July and December of last year.

5) Buyer(s): Igor Krutoy
Number of purchases: 2
Amount spent: $50,800,000
The skinny: Russian composer Igor Krutoy and his wife broke records?since broken again?when they spent $48 million at the Plaza in early 2011. Turns out they also bought another unit two floors below.

4) Buyer(s): Leslie Fielden and Jeffry Seidel
Number of purchases: 3
Amount spent: $1,864,420
The skinny: A bargain! These buyers picked up three apartments in Devonshire House in July for a fairly low total price. Perhaps they were stabilized renters taking the option to buy? At that price, we would, too.

3) Buyer(s): Clive Davis
Number of purchases: 3
Amount spent: $7,409,263
The skinny: Record producer and Grammy award winner Clive Davis purchased three apartments in 2011, two in 465 Park Avenue (for $665,000 and $785,000) and another in 80 Riverside Boulevard.

2) Buyer(s): Gretchen Burke and Stephen Burke
Number of purchases: 3
Amount spent: $16,500,000
The skinny:These buyers picked up three apartments in 1 West 64th Street in May and July 2011.

1) Buyer(s): Monica Thukral and Puneet Thukral
Number of purchases: 4
Amount spent: $1,048,332
The skinny: The Thukrals deserve first place for making the largest number of purchases for the least amount of money. Three of those purchases were made in June 2011 at 311 East 25th Street, and the fourth was a buy in October at 102 West 80th Street.
