Community Board 2's Land Use Committee has given its approval to a variance for the Hotel Bossert, the landmarked Jehovah's Witnesses building that developer David Bistricer hopes to turn back into a 302-unit hotel. He told the board that the hotel will be "sophisticated and upscale," rather than the much-feared dorm; the lobby will be saved but will also include a restaurant; and there will be more "very quiet" dining space on the roof.
