West Village Nursing Home-Turned-Condos Now For Sale

New, 3 comments

The West Village nursing home-turned-luxury condo The Abingdon went for the richest of the rich to start, putting its penthouses on the market for $19.5 million and $21 million. Now the just regular rich folk have their turn. The rest of the apartments are officially on the market?and listed, sadly without floorplans or photos, on StreetEasy?and they don't come cheap. The least expensive unit that's not yet in contract is $8.75 million (for a 3,263-square-foot 3BR), and the priciest (also a 3BR, but clocking in at 3,537 square feet) is $10.75 million. There's a gym, sauna, porter, and doorman, and so far, folks have moved quickly into contract from the prospective buyer ranks. (The Times description of the granite columns at the entrance to one 6,000-square-foot duplex did have us tallying up our bank balance.)

Both penthouses have already gone into contract, and one of them, the $19.5 million apartment, apparently wasn't quite big enough for its soon-to-be owner. That buyer will combine it with the 3,200-square-foot place below for an 8,400-square-foot triplex. The granite-columned duplex is already taken, too. Anyone been to see this place yet? Intel most welcomed.
