An urban planner at the Department of City Planning has been fined $6,500 for making a fake parking placard and using it to bail herself out of multiple parking tickets. Whoops! She made the placard in 2007 and kept it on the dashboard of her sedan until 2011, when Department of Transportation investigators spotted it on Staten Island. (It's unclear whether she was parked in an illegal spot at the time.) She resigned from City Planning when the investigation came to light last year. The lesson: try for more realistic fake parking placards, folks. [City Room]
