PriceSpotter is Curbed's asking price guessing game. We provide you with some details and pictures from an apartment listing, and you take a crack at the price in the comments. Tomorrow we reveal the answer. And hey, no cheating!
What/Where: 2BR/1BA Co-op in Yorkville
Square Feet: 900 square feet
The Skinny: This 2BR/1BA co-op advertises lots of closet space in a 24-hour doorman building close to Carl Schurz and John Jay Parks. And there are walk-in closets, which is somewhat rare in an apartment of this size. Looking through the broker photos, however, a small detail jumped out that gave us pause. It looks like a wall next to that dining table intersects a window—not just the window, but an air-conditioning unit as well. This odd detail is revealed with a glance at the floorplan. The wall doesn't divide the window, but comes within a few inches of it, and then jogs perpendicularly for a few inches to just clear the window frame. Why? Who knows. Maybe the length of the door to that room and the dimensions of the kitchen required interior-side wall of that room be just as large as that and no smaller. It's the type of detail that can either bedevil an owner or become an interesting conversation piece. What do you think? All else considered about the apartment, what do you think the seller is asking?
