Alas, there will be no Dumpster Pools around NYC this summer. The project inflamed from hipster phenomena to a Park Avenue installation last summer under the direction of David Belt and Macro-Sea, which has informed us that they have moved on from Dumpster Pools this summer. Above is a photo of one of Macro-Sea's pools just south of Grand Central Terminal and a photo of a Swimmobile. The latter were introduced by Parks Commissioner August Hecksher III in the late 1960s and early 1970s. They were trucked into neighborhoods underserved by public pools. At this cycle, we expect dumpster pools to re-enter New York's public consciousness sometime in the early 2050s.
