Fun With Urban Farming

New, 3 comments

City rooftops aren't just for penthouses and terraces anymore?sky-high farming is taking over. The city has "a veritable prairie of empty rooftops," and green thumbed companies are planting their roots. Brooklyn Grange will soon have 105,000-square-feet of farms in the sky, Gotham Greens is opening three more rooftop greenhouses, Sunset Park is getting a 100,000-square-foot growing operation atop a warehouse, and the city wants a 200,000-square-foot farm in the Bronx. All this means NYC is leading the heirloom tomato-lined way for rooftop farms. Now, go eat your veggies! [NYT]
