It seemed unlikely that another apartment in 17 West 17th Street could compete with the glass-walled custom wine cellar to be found in the $6.75M fifth-floor unit. But the residents of the fifth and sixth floors could compete in a customization-off. The fifth floor hit the market last week asking $5.995 million, and it has a $30,000 custom front door. (Yup, that's it above.)
The brokerbabble enlightens us as to a few more of the, uh, personalized aspects of the space. The custom doors are a theme:

Crema Marfil marble floors, 40 inch tiles imported directly from Italy, custom-designed 8 foot doors, 11.5 foot ceilings, 7-zone central air conditioning and heating, heated marble floors in living quarters, CitiQuiet soundproof 8 foot windows, custom-designed vanities in all bathrooms, no-sound central air conditioning units, built-in movie screen (120 inches) and projector, dual water heaters, entire home including the kitchen sink has a water filtration system, oversized front-loading washer and dryer vent to the outside. And then the kitchen!!! The award-winning kitchen, custom-designed and published in an interior design magazine. It features a Miele dishwasher, Miele double-oven/warming drawer, Viking Professional Double Refrigerator and Freezer (70 inches total), Wolf hood (vents to outside), Gaggenau 5-burner stovetop and Gaggenau grill. The master bathroom has a TV behind the mirror, steam shower, body sprays, Aquatic Infinity 2-person tub with16 hydrotherapy jets and 2 reclining lounge seats, accessories by Waterworks and Dornbracht. The place last sold for $2.5 million in 2005. Here's the floorplan:
