Bid On a Great View, Lousy Layout in Harlem Penthouse Auction

New, 3 comments

Now's your chance to pick up a Central Park North penthouse (possibly) on the cheap, as it goes on the block as part of a bankruptcy foreclosure auction. We profiled a nearly identical neighbor of the 1,356-square foot 3BR/2BA apartment back in 2009 in our Pricespotter series, and commenters had some unkind things to say about the finishes and layouts.

"This looks like a rental apartment in every respect. I thought this building was supposed to bring something classy to the area, not just a view? I am surprised. This isn't even up to the standards of the Williamsburg McSubZeroCondos."Ouch. The advantage of the unit on the auction block this month is that it comes with a 1,000-square foot wraparound terrace. The sale is part of a bankruptcy auction by East River Mortgage Corp. and Malcolm Carter has all the details, including an opening bid of $950K on the apartment with an appraised value of $1.9 million.
This is the floor plan of the unit at 125 Central Park North we profiled in 2009.
