Tribeca's Marble House Returns for Lowest Price Yet: $17.5M

New, 19 comments

We think of marble as immovable, but not so the price at Marble House, the troubled triplex within 60 Collister Street. The 9,200-square-foot 6BR, 5.5BA was once asking $24.5 million, a price that was gradually cut to $18.5 million before the place came off the market. It came back on in February for $20 million. Then it disappeared from the market again. Has Marble House made up its mind about a price at last? We couldn't possibly say, but it has returned, asking $17.5 million. A new low! This time the listing is furnished with pictures and brokerbabble (and, in honor of its past as a carriage house, a horse!), so we also know a little more about what's inside.
Designer and film producer Stuart Parr owns the place, and the brokerbabble explains a bit of what he's done to it:

The aptly-named Marble House is a delight to the senses with a range of rich, harmonious surfaces: decadent imported Carrara, Striato Olimpico, Grey Bardiglio, and Crema Valencia marbles from slabs hand-selected by Parr himself; grade-A, rift and quarter-sawn, wide-plank White Oak floors laid in a chic Chevron pattern-stunning in their simplicity; custom-designed plaster crown moldings; nickel-plated hardware; and blackened steel?.The main level features a spectacular Entrance Foyer with imported Murano glass chandelier leading to a Grand Hall some 60' in length bathed in light from six oversize windows and punctuated by three identical Murano glass chandeliers. The Grand Hall opens to a private Salon/Library and separate formal Dining Room-each with an imported Murano glass chandelier?.Upstairs, the spectacular 1,000-plus square foot Master Suite includes a 17' x 22' bedroom with Palladian window; a 13' x 22' Dressing Room; and a glamorous Carrara marble bath with walls of beveled glass, nickel, and plaster.

Downstairs, revel in a series of club-like spaces beginning with the elegantly-paneled Yellow Pine Room which overlooks the breathtaking Quarry Room. This one-of-a-kind space is completely clad in Carrara marble slab floors, walls, and ceilings and has a magnificent 45'-long heated pool as its focal point. The nearby Quarry Bath is accessed via a 9'-tall marble pivot door and features a cantilevered Carrara marble sink and 8' Grey Bardiglio marble Japanese soaking tub. A Western Red Cedar-clad Finlandia Sauna; Game Room with private street access; custom 9' Carrara marble slab Wet Bar with sink, refrigerator, and dishwasher; 1,000 bottle Eurocave Wine Cellar, and separate 12-seat Theater with 12'-screen and surround sound provide for the ultimate in-home entertainment and relaxation. Beauty at The Marble House is more than skin deep as the highest-quality underpinnings create the foundation for enjoyment with radiant heat floors; six individually-controlled climate zones; built-in humidification system; fireproof, 3-paneled, 400-lb. entrance doors; and a state-of-the-art security system. The Marble House is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own perfection.
