Maps are cool. They've been useful and interesting pretty much since the beginning of mankind when people were smearing clay on cave walls. Now people like to do crazy map things with Google and gadgets like illuminate public transit in neon colors or make Manhattan look like Paris, but sometimes old-fashion cartography still takes the cake. Like with these lovely watercolor maps of Manhattan by Stamen Design. They're soft, they're pretty, and they make New York look like a calm, soothing place?we dig it. The designers point out that while they are accurate maps, they are not meant for navigation (duh) so don't try giving them to your tourist friends for guidance.
