Times archicritic Michael Kimmelman strays trades laptop for life jacket in his latest piece, hopping in a boat to tour the revitalized southern bend of the Bronx River, "which used to be notorious for abandoned cars and dead bodies." Now, community groups take people canoeing, water-loving creatures frolick, and parks line the banks. It actually looks delightful in the video, minus the massive plastics recycling plant and the sewage overflow in the water. [NYT]
