This Beekman Place Co-op Should Avoid Its Own Reflection

New, 10 comments

Conventional interior design wisdom holds that mirrors are a good way to make a space look bigger. Our experience suggests that mirrors are rarely a good way to make a space anything other than a candidate for That's Rather Hideous. This "sophisticated" (that's a direct brokerbabble quote) 14th-floor apartment at 2 Beekman Place does nothing to change our minds. The mirrors make whatever's happening around that bed even weirder than it already is, and moving on from the apartment's reflective surfaces, the "prewar details" don't appear to have been touched since prewar. The price, currently $1,199,000, was reduced by $51K about six weeks ago, for any bargain hunters who are able to overlook some of the, er, flaws.
