A Strategic Plan for DoBro; DIY Furniture in First Street Park

EAST VILLAGE?The former home of the BMW Guggenheim Lab on First Street now hosts creative workshops and community events. This past weekend, First Street Green so-founders Silva Ajemian and Jorge Prado, who are also the minds behind TODO Design & Architecture, held a DIY soft seating charrette. Several different design groups participated, and the goal was to propose ideas for seating that could be used in the park, re-imaging the standard folding chair design. DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN?The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and the three DoBro BIDs?the Fulton Mall Improvement Association, MetroTech BID, and the Court-Livingston-Schermerhorn BID?released a comprehensive economic plan for the neighborhood. Nearly $5 billion have been invested in DoBro in the last five years, and the 37-page report aims to identify the ways this growth can be maximized and continued. It's broken down into five broad categories: connectivity, culture, diversification, community, and opportunity.
