"The station does not connect to anything. It was supposed to connect to the Worth Street Line (never built) and an extension of the Sixth Avenue Line from the Second Ave stop. The reason the Second Avenue station has so many tracks is because it was supposed to have a branch going to Williamsburg that was never built but would have connected to this station. The Worth Street Line would have connected to this station from the Eighth Avenue Line via Worth Street and East Broadway. Once the Worth Street Line and the connection to Second Avenue were completed, this line would have replaced the current elevated Jamaica Line (J/Z) in Brooklyn and Queens, which would have been torn down."&151;anon [Inside Williamsburg's Never-Used Fourth Street Subway Station]
