Just when we'd almost forgotten the long saga over the development of a mosque at 51 Park Place, a judge has ruled that an appraisal of the building at $10.35 million is correct. That upholds the basis for Con Edison's claim that it's owed $1.7 million in back rent and a monthly rent of $47,437/month for the building. Mosque developer Sharif El-Gamal apparently plans to appeal; he's been paying $25,000/month in the meantime, which would be quite a difference to make up. [NYP; previously]
