Barclays Center Gets Grassy Green-Roofed Subway Stop

New, 4 comments

The Barclays Center is now a little greener. Brownstoner snapped the above photo of the sedum-planted green roof being installed on top of the subway entrance on the arena's plaza at Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues. The 38,885-square-foot plaza will be used for community events like farmers markets when the arena is not in use, and the small green patch looks very similar to what was shown in the renderings.

A recap of what the plaza offers: it's 74 percent open space and 26 percent soft landscaping and seating with curved Ipe benches, three different types of pavement, in-ground lighting, and the programmable Barclays Center Oculus.
