Inside the Flock House

What's it like to live in a temporary geodesic hut in Battery Park? Artists in the pop-up Flock House are discovering just that. Baths use water collected in a DIY rainwater cachement system, food is cooled using the pot-to-pot refrigerator method, they trade for vegetables from the park's farm, and to avoid nighttime mosquito bites, they cover every inch of their skin with clothing, even in the heat. Like a concept car at an auto show, the house is meant to inspire conversation about a more sustainable, better-managed way of living. [Animal]
