Cornell Begins Planning Three More Roosevelt Island Buildings

Morphosis is on board to design the first building of Cornell's Roosevelt Island campus, and now the university is ready to make plans for three more Roosevelt Island buildings. Cornell has sent out requests for expressions of interest to developers for a hotel and conference center, a faculty/staff/student residence, and a commercial property for lease to companies in the tech industry, according to Crain's. Interested developers?Rudin, Related, Gotham, and Douglaston were among those who got the RFEI?have until August to respond, and there will be an official request for proposals later this year. The construction completion date for all three buildings is 2017, the same year that the $150M Morphosis academic building should be finished. Since the whole campus is supposed to take about 20 years, subsequent buildings might not go through the pipeline so quickly.
