A turf war has broken out between bike rental companies at the southwest corner entrance to Central Park. Bike and Roll rents the sidewalk space from the city for $65,000 a year (plus a share of rental fees), but competitors are encroaching on the area, trying to lure tourists away. One bike shop owner doesn't understand why Bike and Roll gets the prime real estate "just because they shell out money," and other vendors have apparently gotten violent with the company, starting fist fights with the security guard.
