Weinergate Disgrace Softened by Apartment Upgrade

New, 14 comments

Former Congressman Anthony Weiner seems to be bouncing back nicely after his career-deflating dick pic scandal cost him his seat on the Hill last year. As pictures of his crotch were being broadcast over the Internet and the nightly news last year, Weiner and his pregnant newlywed wife were trying to sell their 875-square-foot Queens co-op for less than $450K before taking it off the market. A year later, they're kicking it on Park Avenue in a 2,120-square-foot 4BR/3.5BA luxe apartment reportedly worth $3.3 million, according to the Post. Who knew that a fall from grace could be so upwardly rewarding! The apartment belongs to a wealthy Democratic political donor, who has given lots of money to the Clintons in the past and oversees the American Jewish Congress.

The Post notes that rent on the apartment Park Avenue South at 20th Street should be around $10,000 to $14,000 a month, and wonders how Weiner—currently a stay-at-home Mr. Mom after his unfortunate junk-show career hiccup—and his wife can afford the place. The apartment is owned by Jack Rosen, a friend of Weiner's wife's (Huma Abedin) boss, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. A spokesperson for Clinton said that Weiner and Abedin are paying market rate for the new place.

Here's a fairly terrible video marketing the building:
