The city has just finished taking applications from architecture firms interested in about $500M in municipal project work over the next two years. The Journal's Robbie Whelan has nothing but praise for the program, which has already been responsible for the new security booths at Brooklyn's MetroTech Center. "Projects like security booths toe a fine line between being a reassuring presence and having an imposing, authoritarian feel?.Ms. Weisz's booths navigate this problem nicely by offering a design based in a cool-color palette and sleek, oblong geometries that meshes with the urban environment around it while at the same time acting as centurions."
