How Much for a 1BR in a Super-Sized Old-Law Tenement?

New, 19 comments

PriceSpotter is Curbed's asking price guessing game. We provide you with some details and pictures from an apartment listing, and you take a crack at the price in the comments. Tomorrow we reveal the answer. And hey, no cheating!

What/Where: 1BR/1BA condo on Lower East Side
Square Feet: 787 square feet
Maintenance/CC: $597/month
The Skinny: This Lower East Side condo is a super dumbbell apartment, or double the size of an apartment in a dumbbell-shaped old-law tenement building. For those not familiar, these traditional tenements featured narrow apartments that pinch towards the center of the building to accommodate a central staircase and air shafts to provide light and air to individual units. This apartment is the width of two of those historic apartments and extends the full width of the building. That is more breathing room than any air shaft could provide. When judging the layout, be aware that it looks like the floor plan does not include an existing wall that does close off the bedroom from the living room. What do you think the seller is asking for this apartment?
