The Child's Restaurant building on the Coney Island boardwalk at West 21st Street will get a new lease on life as a Brooklyn music venue. Boro President Marty Markowitz has long wanted a waterfront amphitheater for Brooklyn, and NY1 reports that money raised for that project will go towards rehabbing the nautical themed Child's, which was built in 1923. The structure has a long history mirroring Coney Island's ups and downs. It started as a beachfront location of a popular restaurant chain in the early 20th century, and more recently was the home of Lola Star's Dreamland Roller Rink.
