Really Tall Midtown Hotel Tops Out; 110 Fifth Getting Reno

MIDTOWN?It's been more than a year since we discussed 1717 Broadway, a pair of Marriotts in one 67-story building. Well, that building topped out yesterday, with all kinds of celebratory concrete-pouring and flag hoisting and folding. What we mean by "a pair of Marriotts" is that there's a 378-room Courtyard By Marriott and an extended-stay Residence Inn by Marriott in the same structure, designed by Nobutaka Ashihara. FLATIRON?The McKim Mead and White building at 110 Fifth Avenue is headed for an interior makeover courtesy of Moed de Armas & Shannon. The building is sometimes called the "Judge Building" because it was the headquarters of Judge, a weekly magazine published in the 19th century. [CurbedWire Inbox]
