FiDi Not Fido-Friendly as Gateway Plaza Wants Dogs Out

New, 1 comment

Residents of Gateway Plaza are barking mad about a new anti-pet policy that The LeFrak Organization is adding as riders to renewal leases. The new rules outlaw more than a dozen breeds of dogs like german shepherds, great danes, and doberman pinschers, and also forbid ownership of any dog that weighs more than 40 pounds, according to DNAifo. Pet owners are limited to one dog per apartment and have to pay a $250 "annual pet fee" for the privilege. Cat owners are also upset with the new policy, which requires felines to be declawed if they want to stay at Gateway in Battery Park City. The anti-animal move by The LeFrak Organization seems to run counter to a recent trend in buildings that are doing more to welcome tenants with pets.
