Lease Terms Official for South Street Seaport Redevelopment

Developer Howard Hughes already got community board and Landmarks Preservation Commission approval for its planned SHoP-designed makeover of Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport. Now the developer has also agreed on lease terms for the pier with the city's Economic Development Corporation. The Uniform Land Use Review Procedure, more affectionately known as ULURP, will begin soon, according to a press release. The plan under review calls for more glassy structure than the current red shed, with high-end stores and restaurants and a rooftop garden and concert space.

Construction is set to start sometime in 2013 and should be finished in 2015. For those who can't wait that long for a dose of SHoP by the Seaport, there's always Pier 15.
