The gate to Transmitter Park, the very one that has been drawing the ire of the Greenpoint community for the past six months, was finally opened this morning and Curbed reader Jake was on hand to immortalize the big moment. (Looks like they sent someone in right away to deal with any garbage left behind by the people for whom gates are no object.) The 1.6 acre park features an esplanade, grass, a playground, and a pier that won't be opened for at least another few months. And while many Greenpointers may be mourning the fact that summer is almost over already, there is technically almost a month left until the autumnal equinox, so get out there and enjoy it.
