Decoded: The Most 'Stunning' of Apartment Listings

New, 5 comments

Welcome back to The Brokerbabble Glossary, where we take a word or a turn of phrase that seems to show up in an unreasonable number of listings and decipher its true meaning. If you have any ideas for us, send them to the tipline. Today's word: Stunning.

There are a few different words that "stunning" seems to get paired with a lot. "Views" is probably the most common, which more or less makes sense. "Flooring" is another, which makes considerably less sense, and even more confusingly, it's always "dark flooring." It's almost as if brokers think that we don't realize that there are all different types of wood, or that there are lacquers and finishes that can make wood different colors. "The wood these floors are made out of is so dark! How did you do it? Is it MAGIC?" -someone who is stunned by dark floors.

Whatever the deal might be with this bedroom, the photo of it was taken from a stunningly bad angle. Also, is behind the headboard of your bed not a pretty weird place for a mirror?

See, this is the problem with using the word "stunning." These are nice windows! But are they stunning windows? Do these windows leave you astonished, dumfounded even? Nah. See what you did, brokers? You made us hate on some perfectly good windows.

Stunning...ly small?
