What a Dozen Years of Designing Will Produce in Boerum Hill

New, 10 comments

If one has to wait 12 years to custom-build your own dream house, that leaves an architect with a lot of time to come up with some interesting features. The brick townhouse at 362 Pacific Street was built by Architect John Gillis and landscape designer Cynthia Gillis, who put an option to buy the vacant lot in Boerum Hill in 1984, but didn't purchase it until 1996, according to The WSJ. The house they built features a vertically faceted rear facade clad in metal, a brick front facade with prominent window reveals, and interesting interior details like a bookcase/staircase, a swimming pool, and a rooftop garden. The building is split into two condos, and the Gillises are now selling their larger 4BR/4BA apartment for $3.8 million.
