"Perhaps the most telling statement is that older buildings 'performed better than most structures from recent decades' which would seem counterintuitive. But when you look at all the newer glass-walled boxes full of offices and condos, you realize why this is true. Modern glazing may be more efficient but it cannot prevent the enormous heat buildup from the summer sun or heat loss during winter that requires so much more energy to cool or heat the space.
