Two $500,000 DoBro Co-ops Go Head To Head

New, 8 comments

Imagine you have around $600,000 to spend on an apartment and you've narrowed it down to two co-ops in the same neighborhood. How do you make up your mind? The answer is simple: you shove them into a metaphorical cage and let them battle it out until one emerges victorious. It's time for Real Estate Deathmatch.

Address 96 Schermerhorn Street #3E 122 Ashland Place #7B
Price $599,000 $510,000
Maintenance $1,095 $1,100
Square Footage 900 900
Beds, Baths 2, 1 2, 2
Floor 3 7

It's fairly safe to say that 96 Schermerhorn Street is the nicer looking of these two apartments. Its ceilings are much higher, its windows are much larger, and it's got a very cool spiral staircase leading to the sleeping loft. That sleeping loft may be the problem, though, because a sleeping loft isn't really a second bedroom. 122 Ashland Place, a.k.a. University Towers, has a real second bedroom. And, possibly even more importantly, it has a second bathroom. It's also $90,000 cheaper.
