FINANCIAL DISTRICT?Earlier this summer, there was speculation that Chase was just being a jerk by blocking off its massive downtown plaza, but it looks like there actually is construction going on. A tipster sent along a couple photos peaking behind the fencing, and they show some buckets, dumpsters, and chopped up bricks, so it seems as though Chase actually is renovating the plaza. LITTLE ITALY?In conjunction with the Feast of San Gennaro, local community groups and professionals from NYU's Tisch School of Arts created a public art installation and plaza along one block of Mulberry Street between Houston and Prince Streets. They turned the historic block into a traditional Italian town square for the project, called Via Del Popolo. Life-size portraits of St. Patrick's parishioners line the walls surrounding the old cathedral, and there's a public seating installation. [CurbedWire Inbox; official]
