The owner who was trying to flip the penthouse at 419 Broome Street for a 50% gain after a little more than a year has had to readjust his or her expectations, and so took a cleaver to the asking price of $25.5 million and lopped off $6 million. The penthouse at 319 Broome Street (where Heath Ledger rented an apartment before his death) was the last to sell in the building, hanging on to its $20 million price tag for some time before someone swooped in and picked up the 5BR/7.5BA cast iron building topper for $17 million. 14 months later the penthouse was back on the market and the seller was asking $25.5 million. That windfall figure was trimmed down to $19.5 in the last few days.
