BROWNSVILLE?Common Ground has opened a new 161-unit affordable housing development call the Hegeman. Located in Brownsville, the new 78,000-square-foot complex was designed by Cook+Fox Architects and is LEED certified. The units are for low-income and formerly homeless adults, including those with HIV/AIDS and special needs, and building amenities include a courtyard, computer lab, fitness room, on-site laundry, and 24-hour security. Next year, the complex will open an adjacent garden to the whole community. [CurbedWire Inbox; official]
PROSPECT HEIGHTS?The Barclays Center, that giant NBA arena that's opening at the end of the week, has a few techy treats in store for visitors. Courtesy of Cisco, there will be free wifi throughout, and the center will have its own app to "bring fans closer to the action than they have ever been?regardless of where their seats are located." Eventually, the app will have real-time video viewing (in case the live event just isn't good enough), and users will have the ability to order concessions from their seats and then pick them up without having to wait in line, which is actually pretty awesome.
