Top Rooms at Helmsley Hotel Getting Perma-Booked

If you've been wanting to spend a night in a room with a sweeping view at The Helmsley Park Lane Hotel on Central Park South, book it soon—but not too far in advance. The hotel is converting its top floors (18 to 44) into residential units, according to permits filed with the Department of Buildings. Floors 4 through 17 will remain as hotel units, but they will undergo renovations. Goldstein Hill & West Architects are on the project. The firm's recent work in Manhattan includes the Aldyn, Rushmore, and The Laurel. The estimated cost of the residential conversion and hotel renovation is $56 million.
