The city has awarded Skanska, the Swedish construction company, a contract to build the marine transfer station on East 91st Street, a 10-story tower o' garbage. It will take a few months for the contract to get all needed signatures, which leaves a small window for the lawsuits against the project. The city hopes the groundbreaking will happen by the end of the year, and the tentative opening date is 2015. [DNAinfo; previously]
