National Grid workers were replacing a gas line that runs through Paerdegat Basin on Thursday when "something went wrong," resulting in 1,100 gallons of petroleum and cement spilling into the basin. The NYC Office of Emergency Management has advised that everyone hold off on all those recreational activities they had planned, although, to be honest, it was not the cleanest water even before the spill. Still, Paerdegat Basin has a long way to go if it wants to be Brooklyn's next awesome reclaimed waterway. [Gothamist; Photo By ChrisBickford]
