MIDTOWN?The iconic Bergdorf Goodman building on Fifth Avenue at 58th Street has been wrapped up in a giant purple ribbon. A tipster sent the above photo, and we haven't been able to dig up any other info on the installation. We've asked our friends at Racked for their industry insight, but we're guessing that it's for Fashion's Night Out or the store's 111th birthday celebrations. [Curbedwire Inbox]
GRAND CENTRAL?The Municipal Arts Society invited three bigwig architecture firms?Foster + Partners, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and WXY Architecture + Urban Design?to create proposals for the public space around Grand Central. Called the Next 100, the goal is to reinvigorate "the civic legacy" of the terminal and examine ideas for improving the surrounding neighborhood on the eve of Grand Central's 100th anniversary. The challenge comes at an interesting time, considering Bloomberg's push to rezone the area. The proposals will be unveiled at MAS's annual summit on October 18. [Curbedwire; official]
