The first floor of 51 Walker Street showed off its dark, hobbit-accommodating hallways and sorta depressing outdoor swimming pool on Selling New York, and we were not particularly surprised to see the succession of PriceChops that followed. In March, the place returned with a new broker and a price of $5.695 million (the one-time peak, in 2008, was $8.695 million). A tipster tells us the apartment, which finally went into contract earlier this summer, closed last week. The ultimate price? $4.675 million. A narrow escape from the PriceChopper Hall of Fame.
