Latest Flipper Seeks $8.75M Mark Up at 166 Perry Street

New, 5 comments

Flippers have, historically, had a challenging time at 166 Perry Street, the Asymptote-designed glassy spaceship in the West Village. Unit 1A, for example, tried to resell for $5 million?but only managed $3.9 million. Unit 1B sold at a nearly 34 percent discount. But sometimes a seller's eyes are clouded by cartoon dollar signs. The owner of unit #5A has disregarded prior building sales with a new, impressive flip attempt. The 5BR, 5.5BA unit is asking $17.95 million. It last sold in 2009 for $9,202,434.

We combed through the brokerbabble for evidence of a renovation, but we're not seeing anything, except perhaps that custom kitchen:

This sprawling 4500 SF 5 bedroom 5 1/2 bath loft will make an ideal West village home. The high performance kitchen, custom designed by Asymptote Architecture, includes Sub-Zero 700 series refrigerator drawers and under cabinet wine storage, Miele dishwasher, Corian counter tops and honed Vermont green slate flooring. The kitchen is open to the expansive living room with wide plank wood flooring 10 ceiling, floor to ceiling glass and broad views of the Hudson River. Each Bedroom has an en suite bath equipped with a molded Corian vanity and shower, slate flooring and sliding acid-etched blue glass entry door. The interior photos don't show us much, either. Here's another:
