The Times real estate section has a new feature, "Debriefing," which profiles individuals connected to the industry. The inaugural column is about Edward Kirkland, a man in no small part responsible for the creation of the High Line as we know it. In 1999, as chairman of Community Board 4's Chelsea Preservation and Planning Committee, Kirkland introduced Robert Hammond and Joshua David, who would go on to successfully campaign to save the High Line. The rest, as they say, is history, but Kirkland isn't done saving Chelsea just yet. [NYT; Photo by Joel Raskin]
