The housing affordability issues in Brooklyn are particularly obvious in Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and Bushwick, where even "the newest buildings almost never contain more living space than those built a century ago," thanks to quirks in the zoning code. Those neighborhoods are also less dense than places like Crown Heights and Bed-Stuy, and the relative lack of housing in Williamsburg and Bushwick has lead to gentrification spreading outward from those neighborhoods.
