Zoning Approved for 37-Story Hunters Point South Building

New, 8 comments

Hunters Point South, the affordable housing complex destined for the Long Island City waterfront, is moving forward. Work on the site has been quiet, but the developers have been constructing new infrastructure for the coming buildings over the last year. Now, Queens NYC points us toward some news from the Economic Development Corporation: plans for the project's 37-story building at 1-50 50th Avenue have received zoning approvals. The 627,960-square-foot behemoth will have 619 apartments and 223 parking spaces, and the plans show private terraces and public roof spaces. No word on when we can expect a groundbreaking or if the development is still projected to open phase one in 2014.
