We knew this was coming, but it's now official: the Sperone Westwater Gallery has filed suit to stop the construction of a 25-story hotel and condo building at 215 Chrystie Street. The project is being developed by Ian Schrager and Ruben Schron, and Sperone Westwater hates the project because it will block light into the gallery. They also think its out of context with the neighborhood, which is a pretty bold statement from a building that has a bright red box slide up and down its facade. They go to court Feb. 8.
