Saving the Holdout Building

Will NYC's holdout buildings?the older buildings now surrounded by new development?survive? Historian/architect Andrew Alpern identified 50 such buildings in a 1984 study; 10 have since been knocked down. But if a holdout?holds out for long enough, its chances of survival are pretty good, because the new buildings rising around it will lower its value and chance of a sale. [NYDN]
