Everyone, drop what you're doing! There is currently a dolphin stranded in the Gowanus Canal. The dolphin was spotted this morning near Nevins and Union Streets, and officials are unsure why the dolphin is stuck, but there is a cloud of black silt surrounding it and it appears to be wounded. Several news sources say officials are waiting for high tide to see if the dolphin will free itself or if they need to help ease it out of the canal. Needless to say, a Superfund polluted waterway is not the best place for a dolphin. [NYDN and Gothamist]
