Landmarked Building Near Gowanus Whole Foods Is For Sale

New, 2 comments

Construction is finally moving forward on the Gowanus Whole Foods site, so what's that mean for the landmarked Coignet building that sits on the corner of the property? Whole Foods agreed to repair and preserve the abandoned 19th century building, and they already replaced the roof two years ago. But the supermarket, which is set to open this fall, does not own the building, and now it looks like the place is up for sale or rent.

Pardon Me for Asking spotted a listing for the building on Massey Knakal's website: "Great retail opportunity adjacent to the new Whole Foods Market. Landmarked building in prime Gowanus location. The exterior of the building is to be completely restored by Whole Foods (interior requires gut renovation)." There's no indication to a price, so thoughts on what it may go for?or who will scoop it up?are welcome in the comments.
