Delayed by Hurricane Sandy, Canstruction Returns in February

FINANCIAL DISTRICT?Hurricane Sandy delayed the annual Canstruction design competition, but we have good news for fans of sculptures made from canned vegetables and tuna fish. Canstruction has been rescheduled, and it will take place in the World Financial Center from February 1-11, 2013. Twenty-five architecture, engineering, and design firms?including Arup, Skidmore Owings and Merrill, HOK, and the MTA?will turn more than 100,000 cans of food into artworks that will be dismantled after the contest and donated to City Harvest. Last year, highlights included the Brooklyn Bridge, a giant Converse sneaker, and a sinking Titantic. Here's hoping more NYC buildings are featured this year. [CurbedWire Inbox; previously]
