Hurricane Preparedness

Some of the people tasked with coming up with post-Sandy recommendations for NYC are releasing those recommendations today, and the Journal has a preview. Most of the suggestions are ones we've already heard in the weeks following the storm: a better bus system, artificial barrier islands in the harbor, balloons in the subway tunnels to prevent flooding, and "a tiered set of protections for the transit system" so that there is still transportation available for utility crews and first responders. Not surprisingly, there are no cost estimates attached to these ideas. [WSJ]
